Happy Dance: Bit of March

I have a happy dance! And it’s a stitching happy dance! Woohoo!

Flip It Bit of March

Flip It Bit of March

So the M was fully frogged and re-stitched correctly. I finished it up on the plane back from Colorado and I’m pretty happy with this particular month - I like the cute design of course and it looks neat and clean. It’s been such a long while since I had a stitching happy dance that I’m grinning pretty widly even though this is a small project. :P

WIP: Bit of March

Well, I picked up cross stitch for the first time in a while.  I did a bit of stitching on the plane to Cali and then did some more stitching when I got home while watching a movie with the hubby. That’s when I noticed it. Doh!

Do you see it?

The M for March is way too big…I accidentally left way too many spaces when I started stitching it from the bottom up. I’ll have to frog the whole M and start over, including the cute ittle yelow buttons. -_-

Hubby suggested I keep going, but I just can’t leave it that way, I’ll see it and know it for a mistake and it Will bug me. So I’m going to frog it and save the floss and re-stitch it.  Then I’ll be much happer with the outcome.

I’m still stitching! Actually, it was pretty hard to stitch while I had pneumonia because of the body wracking coughing I was fighting with and the hand shaking that was going on from fatigue.  So there’s not a whole lot of progress to report.

However, I think Mermaids of the Deep is coming along nicely and I thought it’d be nice to show an update of my progress there - click on the thumbnail for the full size pic as always. :)

stitching updates

While on vacation last week, I did get some stitching in. :)

This itty bit is the beginning of the March Flip It Bit. It’s one of the leaves of the clover, actually.

I’m still working on the Flip It bit series of months - but the pieces of fabric are a little too small for my smallest Q snap sets. I’m thinking about picking up a little hoop to continue working on them.

Once done - I’m still not sure to do with the 12 months.  Maybe a big sampler or matting them and putting them on a flip ring…

And this is “some things are better rich”.  I’ve got most of the chocolate cake done and started on the coffee cup which you’ll see if you click on the thumbnail to view the full picture.

It’s a sassy little piece and I am so tempted to frame this for someplace in my office, tucked in a corner so only people actually interested in me will catch sight of it.

And here is a long delayed progress update on the Mermaids of the Deep project.  It took me a bit of time to remember where I was and do a bit of stitching.  I had the project tucked away out of the light to prevent threads from fading.  I’ll be working on this a bit more regularly now that the holiday rush is over. :)

I have to admit, I haven’t gotten much stitching in lately.

Part of this is because I seem to have a case of startitis - I’ve been getting a whole bunch of gifts started in prep for the fall season.  Since they’re gifts, there won’t be pics after they’ve been gifted. So that makes this blog a bit boring for a while.

But I did do a bit of stitching and here it is (clicky to enlarge):

It’s been a while, but I finally got some time to sit and stitch at my stitching stand with my larger project on it.  The first mermaid is actually looking very lovely, in my opinion, despite a couple of issues my eye picks up when I stare at it. I’m thinking the blended area of her hair doesn’t look as uniform as I would have liked and there’s a spot or two on her shoulder that I might fudge with a tiny bit so that it looks more uniform.

Ah well, I’m not going to frog it, but I think I will fudge with it a tiny bit with a needle point to see if I can get it all to look a bit more uniform. Am I crazy? or would you do it too?

It’s been a bit, and there have been no progress pics because once you’ve seen one square you’ve pretty much seen them all. :P

But all the squares are done now, and the next step is for me to connect them into the basic shape of the poncho.  There’s 8 squares to the front and 8 squares to the back.  Finishing includes crocheting a collar and then adding a 3 inch fringe to the bottom.  I’m actually a little iffy about whether I want the fringe, personally, so I’ll work up the collar and then try it on to see how I feel about the fringe.

So here’s a so so pic of the squares lined up and ready for joining (as always, click on the thumbnail for the full size pic):

I’ve been trying to snatch time to stich here and there - admittedly, it’s been a while.  Some of my other projects are more mobile so it’s easier to take them along with me whereas this project really does stay parked at home on my stitching stand.  Besides, I’ve got it on scroll bars rather than Q snap due to it’s size and how neatly the ends roll up on the bars since it’s a project that will take extensive time to complete.  The scroll frame is pretty large, again adding to the non-mobile aspect of this project.

Overall though, I’m really enjoying stitching it.  It’s very lovely and the colors are very nice on the eys without being overwhelming. (as usual, clicky on the thumbnail for a bigger pic)

I know it’s been a long time since I posted any pics of crafty goodness.  I have for you now, a sweet little happy dance - the Flip It Bit for February. :)
